Janice Bellace has served on many committees, task forces and
advisory boards during her career. Listed are her major academic leadership
As a senior academic, Professor Bellace
has held major positions in several organizations outside the University
of Pennsylvania. She is currently president of the International Labour
and Employment Relations Association, based in Geneva, which has over
thirty national associations on all five continents as members, as well
as individual members. She is on the executive board of the
U.S. branch of the International
Society for Labor Law and Social Security. Professor
Bellace is a former Secretary of the Section on Labor and Employment Law
of the American Bar Association. Presently she is the
co-chair of the Public Review Board of the United Auto Workers.
Professor Bellace has served on the
editorial boards of several major journals. , For more than ten
years, she was the general editor of the Comparative Labor Law Journal,
and upon stepping down from that position in 1997 became a senior editor
of the Journal. She is also on the editorial board of Diritto delle
Relazioni Industriali, the International Journal of
Comparative Labour Law and Industrial Relations, and the Journal of
Industrial Relations (Australia).
For fifteen years, Professor Bellace
served as a member of the Committee of Experts on the Application of
Conventions and Recommendations of the International Labour Organization.
Before stepping down in 2010, she served as chair of the committee for two
of SMU's board congratulates Prof Bellace in June 1999 while Deputy Prime
Minister Tony Tan and Minister of Education Teo Chee Hean look on.
